A Superb Wooden Chest,
Tibet, 17th Century or earlier.
The chest is painted in gold on red ground. The central cartouche contains a gilded gesso work dragon with devious eyes against a floral textile design. A Rare Bronze Figure of Mahavir,
The 24th Tirthankara of Jainism,
Western India, 14th/15th Century.
Seated on visvapadmasana, the double lotus throne, surmounted upon a double stepped base. The surface of the figure is smoothened with signs of wear and has a waxed appearance to it.
